Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, the Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike has ordered the immediate shutdown of academic activities in the school hours after a protest broke out in the school.
This was contained in a release on Tuesday, where he stated that over 70% of students has paid their tuition fee while others were in a queue to pay and therefore accused miscreants to have invaded the school for the protest.
In the quest to protect lives of students, and to safeguard the school properties, he advised students to leave the school premises before 5 pm of February 6th.
Meanwhile it was gathered that there was on Tuesday protest by students after the Vice Chancellor moved from college to college to fish out students who had not paid their fees and stopped them from writing the first-semester examination following the over 60% increment of tuition.
The students blocked the convoy of the VC and demanded a reversal of the fees which proved abortive.
They took to the streets demanding the school management to reverse the school fees which were taken to N130 and N150k from N46k and N56k.
