The newly elected Chairman of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (Ompan) Mr Promise Uzoma Okoro (PUO) has assured the immediate past chairman Mr Paddy Anyatonwu, that his government will ride on his strength, as well as Strive on his weakness to ensure a better Ompan.
Okoro made this promise in acceptance speech shortly after he was declared winner of the election which was held today at Evergreen Hotel Umuahia.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serve OMPAN with sincerity, while pledging not to disappoint the association.
Okoro further pleaded with his opponent Mr Clinton Uba to work assiduously with him so as to move the association to an enviable height OMPAN.
The chairman who later thanked the Electoral Committee members for conducting a peaceful election, urged all to sheathe their swords for peace to reign.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ugochukwu Nwankwo while declaring the outcome of the general election, said Mr Promise Okoro polled a total of 24 votes to emerge as the new Chairman while Clinton Uba polled 10 votes to come second position.
Also speaking, The National President Comrade Eme James expressed excitement over the election exercise adding that the person that emerged was because the association wants him to lead them now, while urging the other opponent to accept the outcome and move on as there will be next opportunity for him.
He encouraged members of Ompan Abia State to always come out during meetings stressing that with the new Ompan the association will be great again.
In his own speech, the out going Chairman Chief Paddy Anyatonwu, thank God for a successful end of his tenure as the OMPAN chairman and expressed gratitude to the Electoral Committee members for conducting a free fair and successful election that will usher in a executive officials for the association.
