The Minister of Housing and Urban Development Arch Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has kicked off the groundbreaking of the 250-housing units in Abia State as promised by the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in fulfillment of promises on Renewed Hope Agenda made during his campaign, assuring that substandard work will not be tolerated.
Arch Dangiwa in his address appreciated President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for providing the vision and the political will necessary for them to make a difference in terms of delivering decent and quality housing to Nigerians adding that The groundbreaking ceremonies for these projects demonstrate that Mr. President and indeed the Federal Government of Nigeria are committed to fulfilling promises and responsibilities to all Nigerians
Arch Ahmed revealed that the Renewed Hope Estate in Abia comprises of 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.
According to the Minister he noted that the Housing Units is designed in a way that will be affordable by using organic designs to allow for future expansion as the income of beneficiaries increases, which means that a 1-bedroom unit is expandable to 2 bedrooms and a 2-bedroom unit can also be expanded to 3 bedrooms as the owner’s financial situation improves.
Arch Ahmed in his words says, “As we break ground on this project, I want to charge the developers, Messrs Camp David Global Synergy Ltd, and Messrs Finuch Investment Ltd, to ensure that they build according to specifications. I want to warn in very strong terms that WE WILL NOT TOLERATE SUBSTANDARD WORK. You must be committed to delivering quality work as per the contractual terms to ensure durability”.
“We also want you to have this WORK FINISHED WITHIN THREE MONTHS so that we can begin the process of getting Abia indigenes to purchase and move in”.
He further, thanked, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, for promptly granting their request for the provision of land at no cost which he acknowledged the action as a great help that has reduced as much as 30% of the cost for the units in the estate for the benefit of potential homeowners, while noting that gesture of evidence of a dividend of responsible governance, that he applaud the Governor Dr. Otti.
Furthermore, Arch Ahmed Dangiwa also disclosed that they have awarded contract for the construction of a Federal Secretariat in Abia State located at Ekeoba in line with plans of the government to have a strong presence in each state of the Federation adding that Initial preparatory work is ongoing and actual construction work will commence soon at the site.
The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Hon. Chaka Chukwumerije earlier welcomed the minister Arh Ahmed and his team for the groundbreaking ceremony which he described as a great achievement of the president Tinubu Democratic dividends.
He noted that the State Ministry of Lands and Housing is complimenting the Federal government projects in the Housing sector by ensuring that there is availability of Housing in the state.
