Abia Assembly Deputy Speaker Applauds Colleagues For Accelerated Passage of H.A.B 11 Into Law

The Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, Rt. Hon. Augustine Okezie has lauded his colleagues for the accelerated hearing and passage of H.A.B 11: The Abia State Governor’s and Deputy Governor’s Pensions Law Repeal Bill, 2024.

The Deputy Speaker and member representing Umuahia East State Constituency while addressing journalists shortly after Plenary said the passage of the bill is a reflection of the wishes of most Abians, revealing that some other States across the country with such a Bill are also taking steps to repeal them. This he said, is part of the steps taken by the present administration in Abia State to reduce the cost of governance.

Rt. Hon. Okezie commended the Governor Dr. Alex Otti, who in spite being a potential beneficiary of the Law and a Sitting Governor for not interfering in the process of the Bill, identified some of the Bills’ merits which includes allowing more funds to be channeled towards developing critical infrastructure in the State.

Meregini also expressed joy that the State House of Assembly is standing with the people in this particular area as a responsible and responsive State Legislature.
