The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Abia State Command, under the leadership of Commandant UI Alfadarai MFR, yesterday 18th June 2024 arrested a Chinese National and one (1) other person in Umunneochi LGA over allegations of operating a quarry on a site belonging to another entity (JINLOYS NIGERIA LIMITED).
The discovery and arrest followed a complaint filed by the original owner of the site (JINLOYS NIGERIA LIMITED), that the Chinese people have illegally occupied his legally assigned site with license No. 22284QL and 46404QLS without his consent where they’re mining and selling chippings and other stones.
According to the release made avaliable to Journalists by the PRO ASC II Doreen Udugwu Abia State Command noted that after a sustained surveillance carried out by the operatives of the command, who specialize in mining operations raided the site located in Obichioke Stone land in Mbiribo village of Uru Lokpaukwu Autonomous Community, Umuchieze, Umunneochi LGA.
The Commandant said this illegal act would not be condoned in a country where the President’s administration is serious about revolutionalising the economic sector to make it easy for businesses to flourish. He stated that the Corps under the directives of its Commandant General, Associate Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, OFR, has made significant efforts to stem the tides of all forms of criminalities in the country especially in the extractive industry which according to the State Commandant gave rise for the introduction of the special mining Marshall within the Corps.
He vowed to continue working tirelessly to bring all operators in the extractive industry to do the right thing to avoid any breakdowns of law and order.
The Commandant appreciated the support received from the state government and the general public for their continued support and cooperation.
