Abia State government yesterday flagged off the second phase of Oke ikpe-Akwaete -Ohambele – Akwa Ibom State NDDC road construction.
During the flagged off of the project in Akwaete, Ukwa East LGA, the State Governor Alex Otti who was represented by his deputy Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, prayed for a safe and accident free environment, while the construction work lasted.
Speaking Earlier, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said the road project was one of the NDDC Commitment to make a difference and make life easier for the populace, particularly those who ply Abia State and Akwa Ibom State.
He described the project as very important which does not only connect Abia people to Akwa Ibom but also the people of Portharcourt in Rivers State.
According to the NDDC boss who stated that how honoured and privillaged to have his Excellency, in this history making event, assured that the project when completed will reduce the cost of goods and services and also boost trade and commerce in the state adding that NDDC is committed to ensuring that this project is achieved within a recorded time.
