Dangote Group Debunks Claims Of Selling PMS To NNPCL At N898 Per Litre

The Dangote Group yesterday issued an official statement denying the allegations that it sells Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at N898 per litre. The claim was reportedly attributed to NNPCL spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Sonoye.

In a release signed by Anthony Chiejina, the Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, who described the statement as “misleading and mischievous.” The company asserted that the claim undermines the milestone achievements made on September 15, 2024, to address Nigeria’s long-standing issues of energy insufficiency and insecurity, which have negatively impacted the economy over the past 50 years.

The Group called on Nigerians to disregard the false claim and await a formal announcement on PMS pricing. This announcement will come from the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The new pricing mechanism is set to commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that the current stock of crude was procured in dollars.

Dangote clarified that the products sold to NNPCL were priced in dollars, yielding significant savings compared to current import prices. With this arrangement, Dangote assured that petroleum products will be available in every local government area across Nigeria, putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the availability of quality petroleum products in the country and contributing to the elimination of fuel shortages.
