Abia Ministry of Lands And Housing Commences Recertification of All Tittle Documents, Assures Access Roads To Government Layouts

The Abia State ministry of Lands and Housing has announced its commencement of recertification of all land title Documents in the state with that of Abia State Estate Development Agency, ABSEDA formerly known as Projects Implementation Units (PIU) an agency under the ministry of Lands and Housing while assuring that the ministry is at the verge of creating access road to all the government layouts in the state.

This was disclosed today by the state commissioner for Lands and Housing Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije, ACA during a press conference at his office at the state secretariat Umuahia.

Chaka said the essence of the Recertification is to review and update Plot Holders’ Land Records, upgrade survey records from Nigerian/Local Origin to Universal Traverse Mercator (UTM), to Update payment of Ground Rents, Taxes ‘and their Charges, Revalidate Allocations and also Registration/ Update of Abia State Social Identity Number (ABSSIN).

He further disclosed that Documents to Submit for the Recertification exercise are Title Documents which comprises Certificates of Occupancy, Deeds of Assignment, others include Building Leases, Powers of Attomey, Allocation Letters and any other claim on any land or property in the State.

Hon. Chukwumerije revealed that various venues for the submission of Documents is as follows. Umuahia: Ministry of Lands and Housing. State Secretariat (Block A) (Conference Room, 2nd Floor) Aba: Zonal Lands Office, No. 2 Industry Road, Off Ikot Ekpene Road, Aba And for the Online submission, Documents to be Scanned and forward to cofo(@abiastate.zov.ng_ or via whatsapp to 09160002084.

He also pointed out that the excersice will start from Monday, 13th May, 2024 and closes Friday. 14th June, 2024 while processing fee per Title Document i is N50,060 ‘except those issued after 29th May, 2023 adding that payment of the processing fees is at the paypoint of the Ministry of Lands and Housing (Revenue Unit, 2nd Floor) or online via hups://abiapay.com.

He assure every Lands Allottees that the government is working assiduously towards providing adequate access road to enable allottee into their sites.

Conclusively, Chaka maintained that any Title Documents not submitted for Recertification shall become invalid for transactions and Shall be subject to a penalty of N100,000 from Monday, 17th June, 2024 in the first instance and may then be revoked or withdrawn later
