It was a joyous moment as the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa was treated to a surprise birthday by his colleagues at his Office in the Assembly Complex.
What the Speaker had hoped to be the usual Executive Session was turned to a Birthday party by his colleagues who took turns to congratulate and to wish him well on his birthday.
The Members all appreciated the Speaker for his leadership style which they noted has helped the House in no small measure in the discharge of her duty as the legislative arm of the Government.
Addressing his colleagues in his Office, the jubilant Speaker thanked God for His Grace, Goodness and Mercy and for granting him another brand new year.
He thanked his colleagues for honouring and celebrating him in the manner they did, explaining that this year’s birthday is a remarkable one as it marks his first birthday celebration as a Law Maker and a Speaker at that.
The Speaker used the occasion to reiterate his promise to his constituents and Abians assuring that the State Assembly under his Leadership will continue to give the Executive Arm of Government led by Dr. Alex Otti’s every legislative backing for a better Abia State.
Highlight of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake and special prayers for the celebrant (The Speaker).
The Members of the 8th Assembly were led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie and the Majority Leader, Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu with other Members of the House across party divide present at the event.
The Celebration continued at ROOTS Fast Food in Umuahia with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Luke Ukara and others in attendance.
