The Abia State House of Assembly during its plenary session today screened and confirmed the Appointment of Members of the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission Nominees.
The Speaker announced the members to include;-
Hon. Uchechukwu Maduako – Chairman- Hon. Destiny Nwagwu- Member- – Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu – Member.- Mr Chiemela Wagbara – Member.- Mrs. Grace Ibeh – Member.- Dr. Steve Ochonma and- Mr. Ezechimere Uhuoma – Member.
The Speaker while confirming the commission members appreciated the Governor Dr. Alex Otti for making the Assembly an Independent body via the establishment of the commission.
He therefore urged the nominees to be very proactive with the enormous task ahead being the first to serve in that commission.
The House earlier received a matter of urgent public importance bothering on unauthorised parking of vehicles on road side along Alaoji Enugu Portharcourt Express Way which is causing menace along that location which has made vehicular movements difficult to pass through that areas.
The Speaker Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa after deliberations from members Resolved to mandate the Chairman committee on transport to liase with the Commissioner for transport to investigate and revert to the house within 2 weeks.
The House also adopted the report from the Joint committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry presented by member representing Ukwa East State Constituency Hon Godwin Adiele and was committed to Committee of the whole for further deliberations.
In the order of the day, HAB 15 which is “Abia State Security Trust Fund Bill” has passed its second reading.
Presenting the bill, the sponsor of the bill Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu said that when the bill is passed it will help to Curb Insecurity in the state and its environs, while the The Speaker, Rt Hon Emmanuel committed the bill to committee of the whole for further deliberations.
The House after due consideration of H.A.B 9 a bill for the establishment of Nursing Sciences owned by Faith-Based University was passed into law today 25th June 2024.
After legislative activities today, House after adjourned its sitting to reconvene tomorrow Wednesday 26th 2024.
