Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has made it known that Abia state government is working tirelessly to address youth concerns and promote development in the state.
He disclosed this during a recent courtesy visit by the Umunneochi Youth Congress at the Deputy Governors Office Government House,he highlighted the government’s efforts in ensuring safety and security, a critical aspect of governance.
The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of empowering youths, who constitute a significant 65% of the population. He encouraged them to hold the government accountable while noting the administration’s efforts to create infrastructure and job opportunities.
Notably, Chief Emetu revealed that Abia State government is currently hosting the construction of a $1.2 billion Medical City, set to be the most expensive constructed hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa. This project is expected to create employment opportunities for youths upon completion .
Earlier while speaking on behalf of Umunneochi Youth Congress ,Engr Uzoigwe Simon C expressed gratitude for the government’s timely intervention in restoring peace and security in the state, particularly after a period of insecurity that affected areas like Umunneochi.

He also commended Deputy Governor Emetu for being a role model for young Nigerians aspiring to be active in politics, citing his courage, humility, and dedication as inspiring qualities, while pointing out that their movement represents the voices and aspirations of young people in the state and have come to seek collaboration and partnership to explore ways to work together for the betterment of our state and the youths.
Uzoigwe highlighted unemployment ,economic empowerment , access to education and others as some areas that affect the youths that the government should look into.
