Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has signed 18 Executive Bills into law as part of activities marking his 2nd year anniversary in office. This brings the total number of Executive Bills signed by Governor Otti to 30 since 2023. The bills cover critical areas such as performance-based administration, accountability, and good governance.

The Governor praised the State House of Assembly for its focused leadership and commitment to the new Abia, acknowledging the importance of legislative support in achieving his administration’s vision. He stated that the new laws encapsulate thoughtful legislative provisions for achieving his Government’s vision.

The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, described the bills as impactful, noting that some are amendments to old laws. He assured the Governor of the Legislature’s continued support, saying the results and effects of the bills will be visible in the lives of the people.

The Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader, and other lawmakers commended Governor Otti’s pragmatic and visionary leadership. They assured the Governor of their cooperation and collaboration towards sustaining good governance in the State.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, reviewed the bills and laws, highlighting the Government’s commitment to transparency and policy-driven legislation. He noted that the laws are in line with the Governor’s manifesto and will guarantee the sustenance of gains made over the past two years.

Some of the bills signed into law include the Abia State Senior Citizens Law 2025, Abia State Road Maintenance Agency (Repeal) Law 2025, Abia State Estate Development Agency (Repeal) Law 2025, and Abia State Orientation Agency (Amendment) Law 2025.

The bill assenting ceremony was witnessed by members of the expanded Executive Council and the House of Assembly, marking a significant milestone in Governor Otti’s administration. The Governor expressed his conviction that the excellent leadership of the new Government will endure and bear greater fruits in the years ahead.
