Abia Governor Announces The Procurement Of 20 Electric Buses For Transportation

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced the procurement of 20 electric buses for transportation in the state. The buses, which will be rolled out in the next two months, are part of the government’s efforts to improve the state’s transportation system.

Governor Otti made this known during a thanksgiving carnival organized by the Aba community to appreciate his administration’s efforts in reconstructing and completing the Port Harcourt Road, which had been abandoned for over three decades.

The governor also revealed that bus terminals are being built to support the transportation system, adding that the electric buses, he said, will be a game-changer for Abia State, providing a more efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

Governor Otti also defended his administration’s handling of the Port Harcourt Road project, comparing the cost to what was spent by the previous administration. He noted that despite the higher cost in 2025, the project was completed to a higher standard.

Earlier, the convener of the carnival, Chief Onyeka Ernest Udeajah thanked the Governor for his giant developmental strides, says that, what Aba is witnessing is evidence of God’s goodness.

Chief Udeajah said that Port Harcourt Road stands tall in the achievements of the Governor and described the event as an emergence of a new day and a new season, affirming that indeed, help is here for Abia people

Also, the State Chairman, Cooperative Motor Union, Mr. Chukwuma Azodo described Port Harcourt Road project as legendary, adding that in less than 2 years in office, Governor Otti has done a lot, including fixing many roads for the people and making driving experience easy and seamless.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Senator Darlington Nwokocha and Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, who praised Governor Otti’s achievements. The governor also rewarded a ‘Keke’ driver with N1.4 million for returning N2.4 million that a passenger had forgotten in his vehicle.
