World Tolerance Day: There Is Diversity In Creation, Bishop Onuoha

As the globe marks World Tolerance Day today, the President, Vision Africa International and Co-Chair Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has stressed the need for all to accept one another as people are made in different ways.

Interacting with Journalists in Umuahia, the outspoken Methodist Bishop, said considering events in the world and particularly in Nigeria, there is urgent need for people of different nations to dedicate this day set aside by the United Nations and accept to tolerate one another despite colour of skin, language, religious inclinations as well as ethnic nationality.

The Global Peace Award Winner, 2013, emphasized the need for individuals to appreciate and accommodate one another, revealing that by so doing, divisions that have characterised our dealings with fellow beings will be reduced to the barest minimum, adding that there is diversity in creation.

Bishop Dr. Onuoha, called on leaders all over the world to use this opportunity provided by the UN to preach the message of tolerance to the governed, urging those that encourage divisions through their actions and inactions to retract for the benefit of their citizens and country.

The International Day for Tolerance is an annual observance day declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance.

Theme for 2020 World Tolerance Day is, “Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.”
