Amaokwe community in Ibeku has thrown their weights behind their Chairman Tobias Osukwu who has been under pressure and all forms of threats from external bodies to step down for fresh elections to be conducted in the community.

This was made known by the Elders of the community who spoke to newsmen,stressing that there has been interferences from certain individuals who are not from Amaokwe Community but have been trying to influence the opinion of some members of the community to conduct elections as against the Will of the people.
Obinna Aruoma who spoke during a gathering maintained that conducting a new election will not be the ideal thing since there are pending court cases ,adding that the tenure of Hon. Tobais Osukwu will be completed by October and at that should not be distracted by any form of pressure coming from especially those who don’t mean well for the community .

Also speaking ,Emmanuel Chinatu noted that their community lands in Umuahia main market ,Police station, local government, Railway Station, stadium,Adelabu street and ministry of lands were taking away by the government without developing their lands,while stating that no attempt by anybody will remove their Chairman ,Tobias Osukwu whom he said had been in long battle to recover some of the lands which belongs to the community.

Sir Joseph China Anyanwu who spoke unbehalf of the Elders of Amaokwe also maintained that Tobias Osukwu has used his resources to fight the course of Amokwe community, adding that he was specifically elected to pursue the land case of the community ,saying that he has been fighting for the recovery of lands that belongs to the community even before he was elected Chairman.
The community further advised those calling on their Chairman,Hon.Tobias Osukwu through threats ,intimidation in order to force him to step down, to desist from such acts as the community has always enjoyed his services and selfless struggles for their defence and protection of their lands .

According to reports,the community had been in several courts with the help of Tobias Osukwu who has been at the fore front in an attempt to prevent some individuals from disposessing the Community lands of Amaokwe while creating divisions amongst the youths.
