Chief B.B. Apugo, National Member, Board of Trustees of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has asserted that the purported South-East marginalization in the scheme of political/economic spheres of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led APC federal government is a farce adding that the Igbos are the ones who discount themselves.
Chief Apugo made this submission during an interactive session with news reporters announcing the date of the new yam festival (iri ji ohuo) of the people of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom in his palace at Isieke, Umuahia Ibeku, Abia State, early today .
Pronouncing the date of the new yam festival to be on 27th August, 2020, Ochiagha Ibeku used the opportunity to argue that South -East geo- political zone had produced a minimum of five Senate Presidents, Grade A Ministers and billions of Naira allocations made to State Governor’s since 1999 democratic encounter with absolute nothing to clap for.
Chief B.B. observed that what some of these political elites, especially of the PDP stock are known for are avaracious acquisitiveness, rapacious corruption, myopic developmental vision, dwarfed initiatives, flunkeyism, toadysm and professional dexterity in misappropriation/misapplication of public funds, urging support for APC to change the narrative in 2023.
Chief Apugo averred that Buhari led federal government should not be held responsible for the failures of South- East or accused of marginalization since PDP has put states like Abia on the path of diminishing leadership potential or democratic dividends when it deliberately steals the people’s electoral preferences through all forms of shenanigans.
Ochiagha said that good governance in Abia State has gone bonkers and noted that the decamping of Alex Otti into the APC fold will add to the momentum to change the narrative for good come 2023.
Again, commenting on Abia State Government’s response to Covid-19 pandemic, Opara Ukwu Ibeku pointed out that the state’s response was at best a sham, disorganized and nothing to write home about. It is recalled that Chief B.B. had doled out multi-million Naira worth of palliatives to Abians during the strenuous lockdown.
Chief Apugo, therefore, called on Abians and Ndi-Igbo home and abroad to use this year’s new yam festival to reflect on the indifferent leadership in the state and supplicate to the Divine for a change of narrative adding that culture is what man gave to society as against what nature gave to society.
