The Senator Representing Abia North Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Hon. Martin Ikechukwu Apugo over the death of his mother, Mrs Nkechinyere Dorothy Apugo, who was laid to rest last weekend.
Senator Orji Kalu, the current Chief Whip of the Senate, regretted his absence during the burial ceremony due to different “committee engagements” at the Senate Chambers and commended Hon. Martin and his siblings and other family members for a successful burial bequeathed to their mother adding that it is them that will bury their mother and not the reverse.
In addition, the former governor enthused over the defection of some top notch PDP members in the country to APC when asked his opinion on the matter emphasising that the defection of a Senator in Taraba State yesterday and the recent defection of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Dave Umahi, are welcome developments which the APC as a party is happy about.
Senator Orji said APC is not a Muslim party as some see it, rather a political platform to win elections,however,opinionating his expectations to receive the Abia State Governor into the party as he (the Governor) promised to join when he was undergoing court cases, unless he has changed his mind.
Reacting to the condolence visit, Hon. Martin, the first son of the deceased and candidate for Ikwuano/ Umuahia Constituency for Federal House of Representatives under the APC platform thanked the Senate Chief Whip who made out time to visit the Apugo’s family one after the other, adding that it takes someone who cares to do what the Chief Whip did praying to God to bless him and grant him journey mercies as the he returns back to his home town.
