The Abia State House of Assembly has reached a resolution during the house plenary which was presided over by the Speaker of the house 7th Assembly Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji on a matter of urgent public importance presented by the Member Representing Arochukwu State Constituency Hon. Mike Ukoha.
The Lawmaker have also, called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency, as a matter of urgency to assist the people of Izu clan in Arochukwu Local Government Area with relief material.
The house furthermore, directed the Commissioner of Police in the State to make functional the existing Police Station in the area to forestall further break of law and order as well as the destruction of lives and property.
Addressing the house, Hon. Ukoha noted that over forty people have lost their lives with many displaced as a result of the boundary dispute between the villagers and the neighbouring Border State (Cross Rivers state).
Hon. Ukoha further prayed the house to mandate the National Boundary Commission to bring a lasting solution as regards the dispute in the area.
The House also constituted two additional adhoc committees to investigate the financial activities of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba and the Hospital Management Board and were given two weeks to conclude its report.
