In a heartfelt endorsement, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has commended Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti for his remarkable accomplishments during his two-year tenure in office. Obi made the glowing remarks during a special anniversary sabbath service held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia.
Obi highlighted the transformative impact of Governor Otti’s leadership, emphasizing that the governor’s initiatives and projects have visibly improved the lives of Abia residents. “You don’t need to tune to the radio to know what the Governor is doing,” Obi said, underscoring the tangible nature of Otti’s achievements.
The former Anambra State Governor urged Abians to continue praying for Governor Otti and his administration, while also calling on Nigerians to pray for leaders who prioritize the welfare of their citizens. “We want future leaders like Governor Otti,” Obi stated, expressing his desire for more leaders who would use public resources for the greater good
In his own response, the Governor, Dr. Otti attributed the successes of his administration to God’s guidance and support, citing biblical scripture to emphasize the importance of divine enablement.
He also expressed gratitude to government officials, the church, and notable figures like Peter Obi for their support and prayers.
Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Enyinnaya K. Uguru, former President of the Abia North Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, who delivered a message titled “At The Fullness Of Time.” advised leaders not to get too caught up in celebrating current successes that they lose focus on future goals, noted that Governor Otti’s journey to office was a testament to God’s timing, referencing the biblical scripture “Periods of delays are periods of preparation.”
Pastor Uguru, boldly praised Governor Otti’s performance, saying, “You are doing well, and I’m saying it because I have evidence, prayed that God grant the Governor more wisdom and understanding to continue serving the people selflessly.
Pastor Uguru further expressed confidence that with Governor Otti at the helm, Abia would continue to prosper.
The special anniversary service, attended by prominent Abians, featured prayers for the governor and his cabinet, as well as reflections on the theme “Two Years of Transformation; Sustaining the Momentum.”
