A Governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) in Abia State, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has condemned in its entirety, the barbaric attack by unknown assailants who attacked St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo town, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to brace up to the challenge.
Gunmen had stormed the church on Sunday and killed over 50 worshippers, while several others sustained gunshot injuries.
Reacting to the development in a statement he personally endorsed and made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday evening, Bishop Dr. Onuoha, said his heart bleeds seeing a viral video online where worshippers were killed, lying on the floor of the church in the pool of their own blood.
He said the attack has further proved that these assailants do not have pity and respect for God, stressing that it was unholy by all standards for the assailants to attack a Church and kill people worshipping God wholeheartedly.
The Global Peace Award Winner, 2013, said this has justified the several calls by well-meaning Nigerians for there to be a review of the security architecture in the country, noting that assailants move about freely as well as attack their targets with ease.
He called on the Federal Government and the Security Agencies to do more in securing the country through intelligence gathering and be more proactive to situations, stressing that the killings in the land have become outrageous.
The Methodist Bishop commiserated with those that lost loved ones in the dastardly act, praying God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
