Okey Ahiwe Emerges Winner of PDP Special Congress

The immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Chief Okey Ahaiwe has emerged the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Governorship candidate in the Special Congress in the just concluded primaries election.

Announcing the result, the chairman of the Special Congress Committee and Returning Officer of the Election, Governor Godwin Obaseke of Edo State who stated that Chief Ahiwe polled a total of four hundred and sixty nine votes to defeat the other four  contestants.
He said that the total vote cast was 516 with 11 invalid votes.

The candidates includes the Deputy Governor Sir Ude Okochukwu who polled 12 votes , Mr Samson Orji 11 and Chief Lucky Igbokwe 12.

It would be recalled that the PDP governorship candidate in the state Professor Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne died during a brief illness at Abuja national hospital on the 25th of January 2023 which led to INEC directing the party to conduct a fresh  primary election for the position within fourteen days from the date of his death.

The Chairman INEC National electoral commissioner for information and voter education Mr Festus Okoye witnessed the Congress.

Among the  eight contestants for the Governorship Primay, three of them withdraw from the contest shortly before the poll which include Mr Eric Opah,

The Immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor Dr  Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Chief Okey Ahiwe while appreciating the party members and delegates that voted for him, assured them that he will not disappoint the party calling on his fellow contestants to come together so that they can achieve a better Abia.
