The immediate past commissioner of Finance Hon. Obinna Oriaku has debunked the ownership of a firm known as Llyodant Business Services -a firm in charge of the e- portal system for all the government owned institutions in the state.
The refutal followed an allegation of rapacious looting of the State with impunity made against Mr Oriaku by a group known as Concern Abia Youth Forum.
Hon. Oriaku while addressing Newsmen in Umuahia said that Llyodant Business Services has been into operations in the state before he came into the administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in 2015, adding that the firm had earlier been used in the state since 2012 by the then Rector of Abia State polytechnic, Aba, Prof E.U Ikonne, who also took the firm to Abia State University when he was appointed the Vice chancellor of that institution.
Hon. Oriaku explained that he has no interest in Llyodant as been speculated by the group and also revealed that the group do not understand the Job and services provided by Llyodant, thereby, working in supposedly ignorance
Oriaku revealed that the system has helped the various institutions in generating revenue from the level they were to an appreciable level within a short period of time.
Furthermore, Mr Oriaku stated that before 2015, the School of Health, Aba that generates 29million, increased its revenue to 204million, Abia State Polytechnic Abia was getting 657million to 1.1billion in 2018 while Abia State University Uturu in 2015 generated 1.7billion to 3.5 billion in 2018 by Llyodant Business Services.
He observed further that Llyodant Business Services as a firm has helped the students in the areas of online payment of fees, sale of forms, registering of causes, online results checking and again Wi-Fi provider for the students in the tertiary Institutions.
The commissioner went further to explain that the authors of the petition against him are those who do not mean well for the state, expressing dismay why people don’t appreciate the level of revenue generated by this firm, Llyodant, for the state, adding that they should be courageous to come to him directly instead of throwing his name to the mud when all he has done is of transparency.
*Now, the big question is, the firm, Llyodant, having done so well in terms of revenue generation, why are the Vice Chancellor, Abia State University and Rectors of Abia Polytechnic and School of Health Aba, pussy- footing in payment of workers salaries? Invariably, the buck stops on their tables. Could this be an explanation to the level of sybaritic lifestyles of principal officers of these institutions in the state? Time will tell*
