Labour Party Condemns Attack On Military Outpost in Abia…Calls For Calm

The Labour Party has condemned in strong terms what it described as the heinous activity of an unidentified gunmen who maimed and took the lives of five soldiers in Abia while burning their hilux vans and carted away their rifles.

The Southeast National Vice Chairman of the party, Hon. Ceekay Igara in a statement made available to the press in Abia said the constant killing of military personnels in the state leaves much to be desired.

He described the action as dastardly and must be condemned re-emphasizing that the igbo race is known for value for human lives and wondered what the intents of the assilants were. Hon. Igara who called for calm among Abians especially those in Aba commiserated with the family of the deceased and prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest while giving the families the fortitude to bear the loss.

The state also commiserated with the military on what he describes as a very painful loss and prayed it never repeats itself again.In his words ” I condemn in strong terms the killing of these men who toiled day and night to protect our territorial integrity while ensuring the safety of lives and property.

It is a very unfortunate situation and happening on a day we were meant to honour our fallen heroes “the Biafran day” is a sad remememberance.” “It is my prayer that God grants the soul of those who lost their lives in the line of duty eternal rest in his bossom, and I pray He also gives the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable and painful loss.

I also commiserate with the military on this very painful loss and pray this is the end in Abia “The former Abia State Labour Party Chairman also called on the military to by all means conduct the necessary investigations and ensure that culprits are brought to book while also appealing to them not to trade the innocent for the crimes of others.
