Hon Martin Ikechukwu Apugo has assured that he will imbibed on the Christlike attributes which their mother, Late Lolo Dorathy Nkechinyere Apugo impacted on them in the family.
Hon. Apugo who stated this during a Thanksgiving service held at the Lord’s Chosen Church, Umuahia, while thanking Abians for the love they showed his family while they laid their mother to rest on Saturday
He added that his late mother Lolo Dorathy Nkechinyere Apugo was a dedicated woman who ensured her children follows in serving God and humanity while she was alive as he promised to continue in that direction to help in building the kingdom of the Lord.
Speaking at the burial ceremony, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu urged the children of the deceased to reflect on the virtues and values their mother left behind, so their mother could live on in their hearts forever.
He recommended that they embrace peace, perseverance and truthfulness as they forge ahead with life.
Also speaking, the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Orji urged them to bear the loss with fortitude and enjoined them to sustain the legacy of love and humility their mother bequeathed for them. He said if it were possible to keep her alive, the children would have done that, but regretted that death is inevitable.
In a funeral oration on behalf of the family , one of the sons of the deceased, Barr. Emeka Apugo described their Late mother, Lolo Nkechinyere Apugo as a passionate, committed and outstanding teacher whose sense of humility and service was overwhelming as she was accessible regardless of her exalted status and background.
Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu and his wife, Lady Vivian, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe led some senators from other states to the burial, Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, Members of the House of Representatives, Honorables Sam Onuigbo, Solomon Adaelu and Darlington Nwokocha were also present as well as Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
Members of the State Assembly, the Secretary to Government and other members of the State Executive Council, the State Chairman of the PDP, Rt Hon Allwell Asiforo Okere, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Argentina, Chief Empire Kanu ,APC stalwards and many other top dignitaries.
