There has been a public outcry for transparency to be maintained in the Judicial process especially on issues associated with election petitions.
The call was made during a demonstration in front of Golden Olive Hotel,Umuahia by a group identified as APC Family Forum who alleged that some of the Judges who presided over Abia State Election Petition Tribunal were lodged.
Justice Cornellius Ilori Akintayo led Tribunal Judges were said to have been delaying in given out the documents containing the Tribunal Judgment of the election petition Tribunal of Umuahia Ikwuano Federal Constituency which would enable them fast track the process of approaching the Appealate Court for redress and reclaiming of their mandates.

The group have described the Tribunal judgment which favoured Sam Onuigbo of the People’s Democratic Party, as unfortunate, babaric and gross abuse of their fundamental human right, having voted massively for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress,Martin Ikechukwu Apugo, during the 2019 National Assembly Election in the State.
They expressed disappointment at the manner tribunal Judgment was administered to favor Sam Onuigbo who manipulated the process through bloated figures with Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC.
They further stressed that Abia State government have been seriously working together with the Tribunal Judges to alter the process by unnecessary delaying instead of given them the documents since they know the judgment is not working in their favor, adding that 21 days is given for them to go to the Appeal Court.
Obasi Chimobi who spoke to newsmen unbehalf of the group described the delay as a tactics to deprive them of their mandate, but assured the public that they will fight on to retrieve their stolen mandate.
“We had an information that they are here”.
“We are not here to cause problem,we are here to protest so that they can release our document so that we can go to the Appeal Court”.
Ifeanyi Onyebuchi wondered why the documents were yet to be released for them to move further in pursuit of their mandate .
He added that the demonstration was necessary in order to avoid wasting of time,as the constant delay has amounted to serious frustration.

“We are here to protest because we went to the tribunal last time and we saw everything the way it was and from every indication ,we won the case but unfortunately the corruption in this State could not allow us to grab our mandate.”
“We have accepted and now ready to go to the Appeal Court but they are delaying us,we have no time, that’s why we came to this venue because we know they lodge here and we appeal to them to release our documents so that we can go to court and retrieve our mandate”
Justice Cornelius Akintayo, led election petition Tribunal had on monday,9th September, ruled in favor of Sam Onuigbo, having dismissed the petition filed by Martin Apugo of the All Progressives Congress for lack of competence.
The group however, said the APC in Abia State is been intimidated by the PDP led government but vowed to continue in their fight for the liberation of the state through quality representation and good leadership.
