Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has assured that his Government is always ready to open its doors for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Governor Otti stated this on Wednesday, in Umuahia during a banquet organised for members of the Institute who were in the State for their Eastern Zonal Conference.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, thanked the Abia born President of the institute, Chief Davidson Alaribe and his colleagues for choosing Abia State for their zonal conference, urging members (ICAN) to leverage on their expertise to develop innovative solution to address the economic challenges facing Nigeria.

He advised them as professionals to know that they have a critical role to play in shaping the economic destiny of the nation and urged them to live up to the expectations.
While speaking, the President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Alaribe commended Governor Otti for putting the right and professional individuals in the right places in his Government, including their accountant colleagues, stressing the positive need for professionals to be appointed into various Government offices and positions.

Chief Alaribe, who described Governor Otti as a thoroughbred professional thanked him for his sustained support to the Institute while appreciating him for identifying with them by appointing their members into many positions of trust in his administration.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, Commissioners for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu, and Environment, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, the Accountant-General of the State, Mrs. Njum Uma – Onyemenam, FCA,
among other government officials were present during the event.
