The All Progressive Congress gubernatorial candidate in Abia, High Chief Ikechi Emenike on Sunday encouraged Journalist in the state not to Disenfranchised themselves, saying they have the opportunity to help change the narrative
Emenike made this known to newsmen when the Online Media Practitioners Association (OMPAN) had an interface with him at his Umukabia country home.
According to the APC candidate who reiterated that he knows the challenges that the media is facing across the world, which they also bear the brunts of bad governance in terms of lack of enumeration, adequate income and financial constraints adding that if the Journalist can join hands and partner in th mission to ensure Abia is better.
According to Emenike while unveiling his manifesto said his mission is to rescue and develop Abia adding that i can be anchored on the vision that the state must be different from what it is in the past 24 years which has been in a total shambles, ranging from poor infrastructure, non-payment of workers (teachers, health and salaries of pensioners), saying that every other sector in the State are yearning for development.
He said he has formidable team of experts from abroad whose passion is to see a new Abia and are willing to salvage Abia from the clutches of poor infrastructure, bad governance which is deeply rooted in corruption, reiterating that it has eaten deep into the fabrics of the State.
Again, he disclosed the only way to achieve this is to increase the size of Abia Budget which he called Fiscal re-engineering maintaining that until you demand development you cannot get it.
He further explained the biblical saying that ” Evil people will not destroy this world, because they are small, it is the vast majority who stay and watch evil take place that destroys it” he therefore Urged the Press to vote so that they will not contribute to the decay of the state.
Finally he reels out the Emenike Movement of Rescue and Develop Abia State that includes:
To Transform Abia State into the diplomatic capital of the southeast by working assiduously to attract the sitting of major consulates in the state, To Provide Social Welfare services and monthly Stipends for the vulnerable members of our society Amongst Others.
