The annual Diamond Football competition organized by Hon. Martin Apugo, the proprietor of Diamond Football Academy, commenced today Wednesday 26th June 2019 at diamond stadium
Speaking before the commencement of the competition, Hon. Apugo made it known that Diamond Football Academy is a feeder Team that believes in sourcing for young / raw talents irrespective of ethnicity, creed and political affiliation.
Apugo stated further that the tournament is used to hone in the skills of these young and raw talents where they can easily be identified by Local, National and International club sides.
Football dignitaries present at the opening ceremony of the tournament include, Local, National and International technical expatriates, scouts and football managers among whom is Mr Peter Jonny Leon a Senior Scout of Manchester United FC England, Kley Ekeocha and De Vriese Dirk all football agents from the Premier League in Belgium in addition to scouts of the Nigerian League.
Recall that these yearly tournaments organized by the Diamond Football Academy have successfully produced international stars like Samuel Chukweze of Villarreal who is currently in the Super Eagles Squad representing Nigeria in AFCON 2019, Egypt; Kelechi Nwakali of Arsenal FC England and many others.
As part of today’s activities, Diamond Team I played against Bluetaste with a 2-0 win, Nielladan played Diamond Team II with a 0-1 score line, Viable and Diamond Team III with a goalless draw, while Right to Win Team I defeated conqueror with a 1- 0 score line.
Furthermore , Algon played New Generation with 1-0 win, and Right to Win Team II defeated Jahrule with a -1-0 win, Supreme King lost to Iniso by a lone goal while Divine Restoration and Fragrance played a goalless draw.
The tournament continues tomorrow where the rest of the players will showcase their skills.
