The Abia State Government has commenced the conduct of the promotion examination for the civil and public service for the 2022 and 2023 sets in the state with the charge to uphold objectivity.
State Head of Service, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Obioma in an interview with journalists said the directives to merged the two years set which has not been done in so many year’s was granted out of the magnanimity of the state governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti
Dr. Obioma Assure that despite writing this promotion examination in 2024, those due in 2025 will still stand a chance of writing another Examination at their respective due time adding that the promotion arrears will be gradually paid off.
She further stated that the the Governor Dr. Alex Otti out of his kindness will also direct for the conduct of the 2024 promotion examination to clear the backlogs of promotion exercise of Civil servants in the state.
The Head of Service dismissed in totality the idea of malpractice during the examination saying that the issue of malpractice is gone in this era, while assuring that “they are doing everything possible to make the Exam Credible and fair so that if you pass, you will beat your chest and say I worked for it”.
She said that in line with public service rule, opportunity will be given to the 2022 sets who failed the exams to reset whereas the 2023 set will have to wait till 2024 set which is part of the disciplinary actions stressing that they are working assiduously to see they conclude markig the question papers within two weeks, in order to commence with the Supplementary examination to enable the result to be published and subsequently the promotion released accordingly.
Dr. Obioma also promised those who missed the promotion examination to participate during the Supplementary exams.
She encouraged everyone sitting for the exams to relax and not to panic as what will be asked is what they already know, adding that what was covered during the seminar is where the exam questions will be drawn from, again noting that the examination carries certain percentage while other activities will carry the rest, saying that if you didn’t do well in the exams does not guarantees failure, acknowledging other percentage involved in the results procedure which will be added to the examination scores.
She also stated that the essence of the writting the exam in batches is to ensure objectivity.
