Aliyu Audu Resigns as Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs

…Cites Gratitude to Ajuri Ngelale’s Role in his Appointment.

Abuja, Nigeria – June 8, 2025
Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Audu has stepped down from his position as Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated June 8, 2025, and addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Chief of Staff, Dr. Audu expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve under the administration.

“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership,” he wrote.

Dr. Audu also thanked Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, for his role in his appointment. Despite a brief acquaintance, Ngelale’s confidence in Audu led to his nomination on August 26, 2023, and eventual appointment on October 9, 2023.

Describing his time in office as an honour, Dr. Audu highlighted his contributions to the public communication efforts of the administration. He closed his letter by offering prayers for the continued success of the President and the nation.

The Presidency has not yet commented on the resignation or announced a successor.

Dr. Aliyu Audu’s departure marks a significant shift in the President’s media and public affairs team, coming amid broader realignments in government communication strategy.
