The Screening of Commissioner nominees by the Abia State House of Assembly has entered its second day with the former Deputy Speaker of the House, Cosmas Ndukwe as the first to take the center stage.
And as expected. He enjoyed the Legislative privilege of not taking any questions from the legislatures.
The youngest Nominee Onyema Wachukwu was called in. He took questions from job creation, human resource Management, infrastructure and skills development.
Responding, he explained that Abia’s problem is self inflicted and demands a collaborative efforts of all to achieve a better Abia and this can only be achieved through a strong team.
He made a case for more inclusion and investment in Agriculture to deal with the issues of poverty while creating jobs for the teeming youths.
Addressing the nominees, the speaker of the House, Chinedum Orji reminded the nominees that when confirmed, the house in its oversight function will not entertain excuses for non performance.
He reiterated that the house will not hesitate to recommend for the replacement of any commissioner found wanting with immediate effect.
A total of thirteen nominees were screened by the House. Eight of them took a bow while the other five were thoroughly screened.
Their confirmation is being awaited.
The House adjourned plenary to reconvene on Wednesday, 25th September.
